New calendar widget moved to kdereview

Plasma::Calendar Widget

Calendar Plasmoid

Finally today I moved the new calendar widget to kdereview.
This new widget is based on a nuno’s mockup and it will be usable by any plasma application that needs a calendar (it will be part of libplasma).
One of my aims is to write something that is highly customizable so it will be possible to do cool things like integration with akonadi.
I’m planning to continue to work on it and to add some new features like ToolTip support so if you have any ideas, please email me ;)

    That looks extremely cool :)

A few questions: Is it shown automatically by clicking on the plasma-clock in the taskbar/desktop. Having the ability to quickly access the calendar is important IMHO.
Also, can appointments/tasks be shown by mouse-over individual dates?

Anyways, keep up the good work!

    I’m sorry, but I don’t like it.

The numbers are too big, they almost “touch” the squares, at the same time there is a space in the top and bottom; I’m missing a tiny border around the elements to make some distinction between them, since is very difficult to distinguish the elements (date, day, week).

Davide, nice work! The Qt widget felt more and more out of place while the plasma desktop became more unified (kickoff, etc.). Thank you to all plasma-devs!

I like the design. I hate the current calendar, but it has something should be added to this one – current date editable field (e.g. 2008-10-02)., because it takes you effort to realise what date is selected now – you need to look the month and year at the top, then add the day… IMHO

  5. Vic says:

And maybe current day – with different background instead of different frame

in the old version, the date can be selected by the number of the week. Will this feature exists in the new version?. It is really useful as many industries use week number planning in their every day working.
    Thanks,

Wow.. looks cool and can be extended.. getting even better ^^

What I’d really like to see is that all my meetings, etc. are shown highlighted in the calendar, if I click at a day a popup (Extender?) shows up which displays more information about that day and it’s meetings. There should also be a button which starts kontact? in the calendar view…

Maybe also an extender with the meetings which are coming the next days would be useful…

I tihnk a good config dialog is a must if all those features go in, simply because otherwise the calendar would get much too crowded by default.

Something like that would be the best thing I’ve ever seen on any DE :-)

    Good work so far :-)

    Looks really, really great.

Is there an option to not have shown the number of the week on the left side. For some, this might be not so interesting.

    Keep up your great work!

  9. Uninstall says:

it’s only a widget: I still have to start to work on the plasmoid/extender :)
